‘Tom Cruise continues to ruin our filming’: 69-year-old TV legend Jenny Agutter accuses Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Star of deliberately landing his helicopter on ‘Call the Midwife’ set

Tom Cruise’s notorious reputation for being a maverick, on and off the screens, caused quite a stir on the sets of the BBC drama, Call the midwife. However, the reason happens to be more comical than embarrassing. The Superior gun the actor’s wealth and schedule work in tandem to make him afford his own helicopter. And when has a helicopter ever been known to be subtle on its way to its intended landing?

Tom Cruise’s frequent visits to and from the film sets of his latest film just so happens to pass through the filming location of a much smaller, but no less significant, budget drama series, and cast members have raised a problem with the world star’s comings and goings.

The 69-year-old British actress and national treasure, Jenny Agutter, has appeared on English television since she was just a teenager. However, her contribution goes beyond her years as the legendary Agutter has become almost a staple face and household name within British society. But what’s an Emmy-winning actress in the presence of a global goliath like Tom Cruise?

During the filming of Call the midwife which will begin its 12th season in 2023, the buzzing tornado of wind, noise and destruction left by Tom Cruise’s helicopter flying over the sets of the BBC drama caused regular disruption during filming.

The Palme d’Or-winning actor is currently stagnating in the UK, particularly in and around Surrey, due to ongoing filming for his latest Ethan Hunt adventure in Christopher McQuarrie. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning: Part 2. The film will serve as the final chapter in the back-to-back duology that will end the saga of Impossible mission series of films and the legendary role of Tom Cruise in it.

Jenny Agutter played Sister Julienne in BBC Call the midwife for most of the last decade and as one of England’s most respected, revered and influential television personalities, she is heard across the country when she expresses her annoyance at the vanilla sky actor, Tom Cruise. In a recent interview, she says Mirror,

“Tom Cruise keeps ruining our shoot by landing his helicopter right in front of where we’re shooting.”

When asked if she would give a piece of her mind to the actor if given the chance, she replied:

“In my habit! To imagine. “Excuse me, Tom, but listen, we’re trying to film. I don’t know about you, but get your helicopter out of here quick!”

While this may be the only time such an encounter has happened, the world is no stranger to Tom Cruise and his affinity for staying close to the skies. The actor infamously holds the license to fly commercial planes and helicopters, is trained and qualified to maneuver and perform stunts with fighter jets (an ability he has exploited on the sets of Top Gun: Maverick), can perform HALO jumps and parachute jumps without professional supervision. And all this only covers the talents he holds in heaven. So it’s no news that Cruise can now afford to fly over the BBC sets en route to delivering the greatest thrill that will be the Impossible mission Grand finale.

Call the midwife Season 12 will air on the BBC in 2023.
