The South Korean audiovisual industry has left us throughout history great projects on the ‘zombie’ genre such as Train to Busan, one of the most shocking films that are remembered about an apocalypse of the style, although many are what demand the recognition that Kingdom deserves, a series that after being broadcast on television in that country, reaches the rest of the world through Netflix. This is where the new episodes have recently been released, so many are already wondering when season 3 of Kingdom will arrive, although the question is: is it in the plans to continue the fiction set in the era of the medieval Joseon dynasty??
As creator Kim Sung-Kyo explained at the Bucheon International Film Festival, “the plan is to renew the series annually,” although his role in season 2 was only as an advisor, giving way to new faces in the directing position. Therefore, with these statements, it is quite likely that the production company they are already working on the new episodes of season 3 of Kingdom, although we do not really know their reception in South Korea, and if the numbers have once again convinced Netflix in this chance.

The first season of fiction premiered in January 2019, while Kingdom season 2 arrive in March 2020 on Netflix, so if this schedule was followed, the next chapters would be released between April-May 2021, but that didn’t happen due to the coronavirus pandemic. As of now, it has been rumored that the show will mark its return in late 2021 or early 2022.
