According to the new research, a study indicates that adults among Unite States citizens, half of them are associated with breast cancer by using cannabis such as hemp and marijuana.
Typical cancer treatments are alongside them, which are used to manage the side effects and symptoms, while most of the patients will not discuss the cannabis usage with the doctors and physicians.
Cannabis Used By Many Adults With Breast Cancer
For a patient, it is needed to reveal the facts to his doctor as he can rely on such information while prescribing the medicines and diagnosing the conditions. Such hidden facts can lead the doctor to a wrong diagnosis, which can seriously affect an individual’s health.
The research was done by experts in different regions, and a specific age group was found doing so.
According to the study findings, among individuals, most cancer patients are experienced by fatigue, nausea, pain, and other difficulties which eventually arise from the cancer treatments.
Researchers say that some of them turn to cannabis to get relief from the symptoms, but most of the physicians feel that they are in lack knowledge about cannabis and they should know the disadvantages of using it.
Based on the study knowledge, breast cancer is specified by the qualifying conditions, which are near to all the states, including a medical cannabis program.
Investigators of this study say that they had recently conducted an online survey anonymously to examine the cannabis usage among the adults who are already diagnosed with breast cancer in five years and are already members of some health communities.
Researchers had started some major findings that:
Among 612 participants, only 42 percent of the participants are reported using cannabis to get relief from insomnia, stress, nausea, pain, vomiting, and anxiety. Among the people who used cannabis are reported with 75 percent, which was an extreme result and helped get relief from symptoms.
Half of the 49 percent of participants used cannabis to believe that medical cannabis, which can be used for cancer treatment and is also an effective method at odds with cancer, is still unclear.
Among the participants who are using cannabis are about 79 percent, they are included by radiation, surgery, and systemic therapies.
Participants are reported by using different cannabis at a wide range which varies in purity and quality.
Half of them had looked for the information about medical cannabis, where other patients and websites are raked by helpful sources from the information.
Among the participants who had looked for the Cannabis Usage Information for Medical Purposes, they were unsatisfied by the information that they received.
Most of the participants had believed that cannabis products are tended to be safe so that we could get unaware of the untested products.
Researchers say that “our study highlights the important opportunities for the providers for initiating the conversation about the medical cannabis and shreds of evidence show that most people use medical cannabis without any knowledge.”
Marisa Weiss is the lead author and researcher of this study; she says that irrespective of knowledge on cannabis usage among cancer patients, it is a major blind spot to provide optimal care.
On this note, health care providers should do their best job initiating the conversations about medical cannabis among the patients who have symptoms and side effects.
On a concluding note, Dr. Weiss stated that breast cancer patients should not use cannabis as a substitute for cancer treatment. Clinicians also should inform the patients about the effective and safe usage of cannabis which is an adjunct for the cancer treatment plan.
