The World Health Organization is keeping an eye on every step taken by different countries to defeat the rise of the Covid 19 virus and with the rise of the Omicron variant in South Africa the situation has become tenser.
Covid Booster Is A Great Way To Help Enhance Your Immunity Power
When the US Federal Government expanded the eligibility to receive booster shots by reducing the age limit from 66 to 18 years and above, there was a sigh of relief amongst the citizens.
A booster shot will be for individuals who had an effective immune response to the ordinary two-dose immunization treatment protocol, however “with time, the innate immune and medical defense has declined below a percentage considered adequate in that population”.
The eligibility criteria to avail the benefits of the booster shots is, the adults must be of 18 years and above and must have received the initial vaccine at least 6 months ago for Pfizer and Moderna and at least 2 months ago for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
As per the US Centers for Disease and Control Prevention and The Food and Drug Administration, the booster shot has been a game-changer to fight against the novel coronavirus and especially the delt variant of Covid 19.
The CDC has asked the medical officials to focus more on adults above 50 years of age as they are more prone to the covid 19 virus as the immunity system gets weaker with the increase in age.
The concept “weakening immunity” typically refers to a progressive reduction in antibody levels. Many doctors and medical researchers have found that it’s usual for antibody levels to drop after any inoculation.
Nearly two years after the COVID-19 virus was discovered in China, a subtype of the virus known as Omicron is particularly worrying all around the world as it is considered as the most spread variant as it carries higher mutations than the delta variant.
Although medical authorities in the United States believe that the Delta variant is the most dangerous one and it disrupts the human body more than the Omicron variant.
Researchers understand that Omicron is somewhat more transmissible than Delta, but there have been uncertainties as to whether the Omicron variant will be more infectious and what will be the major symptoms. All these factors are uncertain unless more data is not available to research better.
Since the cases of Omicron in the United States are not very high but it must be noted that the infected people are fully vaccinated which raises the question of concern on the effectiveness of the vaccine to fight against the Omicron variant.
Dr. Fauci also showed his concern over the efficiency of vaccination and urged all the eligible adults to receive the booster shots as the cold weather is increasing and the cases will surely rise and it will further increase the hospitalization and death rates in the United States.
Many health care specialists state that now the entire region should indeed be boosted; however, others are skeptical that the United States should prioritize extra shots including all healthy individuals
