The United States has already witnessed the dark side of the delta variant of the coronavirus and is still facing the negative effects in the form of rising cases and deaths in the nation. The world is facing a new threat in the form of the Omicron variant.

As per The World Health organization, Omicron came into the limelight a few weeks back in South Africa and its roots are connected with Hong Kong. The infection of this variant is further spread to more than 60 countries in just 3 weeks.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated that we are witnessing the effects of the Omicron variant and the chances are the worst is yet to come in the upcoming weeks during the festive season.
According to the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention, studies have been conducted on the new variant and it has been discovered that the number of mutations is very high as compared to the earlier strain.
The omicron variant carries more than 50 mutations, which can trigger the spread further and increase the rate of infections.
The Federal Government has been asking the vaccine manufacturers to develop a vaccine that can fight all the mutations and create antibodies that might prevent penetration of the virus into the system. Each mutation has a different genetic structure and attacks differently on the body.
Also, The World Health Organization on the emergence of this new variant and its respective studies stated that “The transmissibility of the Omicron variant is high and the main reason behind this is, the number of mutations which is more than the delta variant.
Although according to the initial studies the omicron variant is not lethal as compared to the delta variant but spreads much faster than the latter one.
Every vaccine is formulated in a way to create an antibody barrier that can prevent the penetration of the virus into the system.
Dr. Anthony Fauci has stated that the current vaccines are effective for the Delta variant but when it comes to the omicron strain, the vaccines will fail drastically to fight back.
Although, the results have been conducted according to the small set of data available. The FDA officials are stating that the effect of every vaccine can wear out after a specific time and this is the reason that even vaccinated patients are getting infected with the latest version of covid 19.
Dr. Fauci in a press conference claimed that the unvaccinated people are more prone to the infection than the ones with both doses and these non-vaccinated people are a real threat for the entire vaccinated population. Since the initial days of booster shots, he has advocated booster shots for everyone as it offers instant immunity power.
Out of the 43 omicron cases in the United States, more than 75 percent have been detected from the fully vaccinated and 30 percent had received the booster shots too.
