Now as per the reports, the recent update in the category of rules and regulations is that California has exempted San Francisco’s citizens to wear masks indoors.
Well, as per the administration of San Francisco, it will allow people to remove their masks in indoor places if they are fully vaccinated. The Department of Public Health said that the overall masking mandate will remain in effect though.
Furthermore, the state officials justified this stand and explained that the exemption against the mask mandate rule has been possible due to awareness of the people to stay vaccinated and safe in order to fight against the newly founded variant.
More than 80 percent of the citizens in San Francisco have received at least an initial dose of the vaccine. The Public Health Department has permitted fully vaccinated people to not wear masks compulsorily and it’s their choice if they further want to prevent themselves against the covid 19 virus, they must wear it as a precautionary action.
However, the healthcare officials are worried about the spread of the new omicron COVID-19 variant as in the State of New York, around 20 cases of the new subtype have been detected and the Governor feels that the chances of community transmission are possible.
Scientists and other health researchers are conducting various studies on this new variant and trying to learn more from the analysis and they also consider that the omnicron variant can spread more easily than the delta subtype.
As per the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the new variant is known to be affecting the unvaccinated population which is around 58 million and this is something to stay worried about. Also with the reducing efficiency and effectiveness of the vaccine, the demand for the third shot has arisen.
There are many other areas of the country that have seen outcomes much worse than California. Major efforts and actions have been successfully taken by the state authorities and federal medical agencies in keeping the community a safer and protected environment.
The officials also stated that the mandate can be imposed again if under certain circumstances there is an outbreak of omicron cases in San Francisco. The mask keeps you protected and creates a safer environment for the families also. The US CDC has recommended that if you are going for any indoor or outdoor Christmas gatherings, wearing a mask and maintaining social distance will be the alternative even if you’re fully vaccinated.
