The Omicron variant has become a favorite spot for the United States as the cases are doubling every day. As the omicron variant is highly contagious, it continues to spread in the US at an awkward rate and the number of COVID-19 cases coming up is alarming for the country. It has been observed that a number of COVID cases being detected by the delta variant have been left behind by the new variant in a matter of 11-12 days.
The US Hospitals To Take Conscious Steps Towards Omicron Variant
According to the data coming up, the hospitalizations taking place due to the delta variant of COVID-19 were relatively higher during the summertime as the delta strain is still dangerous.
As per Dr. Anthony Fauci, The Chief Medical Adviser to the Federal Government has been stating that the situation may get worse over time if people avoid getting vaccinated on time. He also claimed that there is no strong reason for the unvaccinated population to receive the vaccination.
The medical experts are saying that if people will delay vaccination then it will lead to a delay in fulfilling the eligibility criteria for the booster shots too.
According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 57 million Americans are still unvaccinated and it is a matter of concern for both citizens and the administration to curb cases as these people are possessing a great level of threat to the vaccinated population.
The rising cases are also increasing the footfall of the infected patients in the hospitals and states like New York, New Jersey, Texas, Ohio, and some others are under a huge pressure of staff shortage which directly leads to the negligence in the treatment.
Being unvaccinated puts people at high risk for infections and complications like death as has been proven by the doctors at the time of the delta wave in the country. As per the health authorities, the spread of the omicron variant is likely to overwhelm the hospitals and put their efficiency to the test which is already an issue for the White House Administration.
Also, the number of hospitalizations is increasing gradually and the medical experts are claiming that the peak may arise early next year and in order to prevent yourself from the impact of the wave it is good to follow the health guidelines and directives laid down by the government and health authorities which include wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, sanitizing and try not to travel if there is no urgency.
As per the data released by the US Department of Health and Human Services, it was observed that millions of American population have undergone hospitalization due to coronavirus during the month of November and December and they have blamed the festive season for the same and almost 85 percent of the cases were detected from the unvaccinated people.
As per the new data, the cases in the state of New York tripled during the last week and it shows how fast omicron strain travels in the human body.
