Given the rising number of COVID cases in the United States, medical experts in the United States are considering requiring vaccination for domestic air travelers as well after the vaccine mandate rule for the healthcare workers and private employees.
Domestic Travelers Might Have To Follow The Vaccine Mandate Rule
Dr. Anthony Fauci’s remarks indicate a possible embrace of an idea previously rejected by the Biden administration and it will help in reducing the covid 19 cases in the US.
According to Dr. Anthony Fauci, such a mandatory measure will increase vaccination rates in the United States while also providing greater protection to passengers on flights. As per the recent data available, around 57 million American citizens are not vaccinated and they can be more lethal than the infection itself as these people possess more power to carry the infection from one place to the other.
Although medical officials in the States are already debating on such a decision which is yet to be authorized by the White House. The administration has so far refused to impose this vaccination requirement for domestic air travelers. Also, the legal experts are stating that if these mandate rules come into power then surely the government has to face some strong legal proceedings just like they faced challenges for the vaccine mandate rule for the private employees in the US.
At this time, there is no indication that a vaccine mandate for domestic flights in the United States is on the way. Earlier in September, the travel industry had already stood against the mandatory vaccination rule for domestic travelers which will reduce the number of air travelers and it will disrupt the industry which has already been ruined by the travel restrictions.
According to Fauci, it is unlikely that the mandate will be imposed soon, and it may take some time to make a proper decision and after careful consideration and analyzing the results the administration will come to a conclusion and will make the rule if it will demand. Our main focus is to increase the vaccination rate in the country which is just crawling slowly due to some citizens who are rigid enough.
As per the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s latest travel guidelines, the passengers on US flights have to compulsorily wear a mask while boarding a plane, and they must continue to wear it throughout the flight and not following the rule will invite penalty.
Also, if you’re coming from a foreign you need to carry proof of vaccination and a negative COVID test within 24 hours of departure.
During the time of Christmas, almost 10,000 flights were either delayed or canceled due to increasing omicron cases amongst the airline staff members. Due to a lack of staffing and a high number of infected passengers, the airline industry is suffering a significant loss and the companies have also demanded to shorten the isolation period for staff members in order to manage the shortage of labor.
