With the COVID-19 pandemic expanding its reach with new strains, it has been tough for the nations to modify the rules at times by analyzing the situation and letting the citizens feel and remain safe at homes and workplaces. The delta variant which is considered the most lethal variant of coronavirus is still on the rise. Although the omicron subtype has become a more dominant strain of covid 19 surpassing the previous strain.
CDC Likely To Add Testing After Isolation Period In Asymptomatic Patients
The US was already coping with the Delta variant surge and the sudden rise of the omicron variant has added to the bucket of problems now. The strain is said to be highly contagious in nature but less likely to cause the severity in humans.
The vaccination drives in the different parts of the US are also at a surge so that maximum people can stay safe and prevent themselves from getting a hold of the new covid 19 infection.
With the ending of 2021, the US CDC made sudden changes in the isolation time frame and reduced it to five days against the previous span of 10 days, and it was highly criticized by many medical experts. Although many healthcare scholars were in favor of such a bold step and admitted that this step is necessary as the cases are increasing very fast.
The main lead of the Federal medical authorities, Dr. Anthony Fauci who has been administering every small step was also not happy with such a decision and asked the agency to have certain amendments.
As per the reports coming up, Dr. Anthony Fauci has announced that after the long meeting with the officials, The Centers for Disease Prevention and Control is planning to add some amendments to its previously changed isolation policy and will add testing after the isolation.
According to the new changes suggested, asymptomatic patients have to undergo testing after completing the isolation period of five days, and only after negative reports with no symptoms will the person be allowed to go outside and that too wear a mask.
Now the medical officials are supporting this amendment stating that there must be some measurable parameters so as to maintain the security of the infected patient as well as the public.
To deal with the omicron variant, the application of booster shots is said to be effective enough. Once you have received the two doses of a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, you are eligible for a booster shot. Being unvaccinated increases the risk of the spread of infection and makes you more vulnerable to the virus and as per Dr. Fauci, the unvaccinated population is the major source of virus outbreak amongst the vaccinated citizens.
Apart from this, Dr. Fauci also thinks that kids can be brought back to schools after the winter breaks since most of the students, teachers, and staff are vaccinated now. The parents and teachers have to teach kids to follow the necessary covid 19precuationary protocols like wearing masks, washing hands regularly, sanitizing frequently, and maintaining social distance.
