As per the reports from various hospitals and public health departments in the United States, there is a surge in the Covid 19 cases amongst the teens and the kids and the major cases are from the omicron variant.
The Pediatric Covid 19 Cases Are Increasing Very Fast
This can be very shocking news for the federal and State Governments as if more kids will be infected with the omicron variant of coronavirus, the fatality rate will increase in the country.
The low immunity power and less vaccinated kids’ population have been majorly blamed for this surge. According to the data analyzed by the US CDC from different medical centers, pediatric cases in the country are being detected amongst the unvaccinated population.
The record-breaking cases amongst the young population in the United States have become a serious matter of concern for the medical agencies and the authorities have already started working to curb the cases as the upcoming wave is expected to target kids and teens at a much higher level.
With the rising cases, the hospital admissions amongst these groups are increasing very fast. More tension has arisen due to the opening of the schools after the winter holidays.
The Omicron variant has already taken over the delta strain and more than 80 percent of the new cases in the US have been detected with the omicron version. Although the severity rate is low, the contagious level is very high because of the high mutants present in the virus.
The dominance of the new variant can be seen very easily as the daily cases in the United States have hit 1 million and it has been expected that the omicron subtype has the capacity to infect more than 140 million American Citizens in the next two months.
Major states like New York, Ohio, Washington, Georgia, Maine, and some others have reported an increase in the pediatric hospitalization rate when compared with the previous week.
As per the reports some states have even claimed that the rise in hospital admissions has already surpassed the delta variant peak hospitalization rate and it is expected to rise further at a very fast pace.
The parents in the USA are reluctant to get their kids vaccinated due to the widespread miscommunication related to the side effects of the vaccines on their children.
According to the data available with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 90 percent of the hospitalization cases in the US are because of the omicron variant of covid 19.
The country has witnessed more than a 60 percent rise in the Covid 19 cases amongst the teens and the young kids and the cases have doubled in just a week’s time frame and it is a serious situation for the medical authorities.
Now the parents have to take a stand and get the children vaccinated as soon as possible because the omicron strain majorly targets low immunity people. Keeping in mind this fact, The US FDA authorized the emergency use of booster shots for 12-15 years old adolescents in the country.
