The omicron variant is considered to be mild since its origin in South Africa. The scientists who are closely monitoring the rise of the omicron and its mutants are still figuring out the changing behavior of the omicron strain.

Various studies are being conducted but almost the same results have been analyzed and it shows that the new variant is not very severe. The vaccines which have been considered are less effective and efficient against the omicron subtype of covid 19 have shown some positive outcomes.
As per the latest data available from various hospitals in the United States, it has been found that the initial two doses of the vaccines offer protection against the covid 19 virus.
The study was conducted on a set of infected patients at the US National Institutes of Health and it was found that the covid 19 infected patients were not severely affected, they didn’t demand intensive care unit, the respiratory failure and death were also very limited.
Now this research has shown some positive rays of hope to the citizens of America and it will boost and motivate more and more people to come out and receive their vaccinations at the earliest. The current fully vaccinated rate in the country is somewhere around 64 percent which is not being appreciated by the US medical authorities and the White House Administration.
There is a dire need to expand the vaccine coverage and equally amongst those who are yet to receive their initial dose of the vaccine. The vaccines possess a good amount of antibodies which allow the immune system to fight the virus efficiently and reduce the chances of getting a serious condition that leads to hospitalization.
The data reflect the time period when the delta variant was emerging and became lethal. On the other hand, the omicron variant is opposite of the delta strain, less lethal but highly transmissible.

The two doses of Pfizer and Moderna offer a great amount of protection and come with very few side effects and on the other hand, a single dose of Johnson & Johnson was available until October when the FDA authorized the second dose. But it must be noted that as per the reports, the J&J vaccine produces some rare blood clotting problems and the CDC is not recommending the American population to opt for the Johnson & Johnson initial vaccine dose.
The Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccine eligibility start with 18 years and above. On the other hand, the Pfizer vaccine can be given to anyone of 12 years and above age.
