The State of New York was the first state that announced an emergency in the country after a single case of omicron was detected from a fully vaccinated individual who fled from the African country.
Kathy Hochul Says, Kids Aged 12-15 Eligible For Receiving Booster Dose
The Governor of New York State, Kathy Hochul has been taking various difficult steps to safeguard the lives of the citizens. She also stated from her Twitter Handle that “we are in direct contact with the Federal Government and have been seeking all the directions from them”. She has been keeping an eye on every development and after The White House Administration has directed all the states to work on increasing the testing facilities, the State of New York was the first one to set up 13 new testing locations in different parts of the state.

Though the vaccines had come up much earlier the kids were still excluded from the category and after clinical trials and other analysis it was also authorized for the kids and by November except kids between 0-4, everyone became eligible to receive the vaccination. Although the history of initial doses of vaccine is not so good with the omicron variant, it is still the only method to reduce the severity.
Also, the booster doses were authorized for the elderly first and then the adults. Well, the good news for kids is that now they will be able to receive booster shots and prevent infection. Along with the people aged 16 years of age, now the adolescents with age group 12 to 15 are also eligible for the booster shots in the state of New York, announced by Kathy Hochul.
As per the new health guidelines laid down by Governor Kathy Hochul, the booster doses will now be available for people aged 12 years of age and older. Also, the booster shots should only be taken five months after the primary series of newly developed vaccines for the age group 12-15. It must be noted that only Pfizer booster shots are eligible for children between 12-17 years.
The time gap between receiving the second dose of vaccine and a booster shot was decreased from six months to five months by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
In addition to this, children aged between 5 to 11 years are eligible for receiving an additional dose of the primary series of Pfizer or BioNTech vaccine as a booster shot. Although the approval is yet to come from the FDA.
On Friday, The US CDC also reduced the duration to 5 months for the Moderna vaccine that is fit to be used by people aged 18 years and older.
According to Governor Kathy, with the coming winter surge, it has become necessary for people of all age groups to get vaccinated as soon as they become eligible. To keep the children safe, healthy, and protected is the primary goal of our state medical agencies.
The administration of the booster dose will help in dealing with the severity of the disease that may not be offered by the initial doses of the vaccines as founded by the medical researchers and scientists.
