The rising cases in the United States have been giving restless nights to the administrators and medical agencies. The Omicron variant is although said to be very less severe and comes with mild symptoms.
Omicron Variant Spurs A Record-Setting Increase In US
On the other hand, the delta version is considered to be very lethal but has been overtaken by the omicron strain. But when comparing the transmissible level for the new strain with its previous counterpart, the omicron clearly beats the delta version as it carries more than 50 mutants which makes it easy for the new subtype to travel faster and infect more people as much.
As per the reports, the covid 19 cases are doubling every week and creating a panic situation for the public health department in the country.
According to the latest data released by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, on Monday the United States witnessed more than 1.38 million new covid 19 cases and breaking all previous records.
The previous record was achieved more than 6.72 million cases last week and it was already expected that the country will cross 1 million this week and Monday saw the maximum level of cases.
As per the medical researchers, the strain is highly contagious but also the experts are not expecting the high level of death rate as the symptoms and severity level is mild and not making this variant dangerous.
Also, as per the new data available, the United States has crossed more than 60 million Covid 19 cases and surpassed more than 860,000 deaths in the country.
Although there are high chances that in this total tally of 1.38 million cases, the home testing positive results might not be available because as stated by any medical experts, tracking self-testing cases has been a problem as many people just isolate themselves and dont register with the Public Health Care department.
Furthermore, the stats released is the combination of weekends too but if we compare the number of cases with Sunday, it is more than 4 times on Monday.
