Prince George’s County Public school has introduced certain regulations in order to make it a safer environment in the phase of the Covid-19 situation and urged everyone to keep a healthy social distance. The new regulations state that people infected with the virus must undergo quarantine and an isolation period of around 5 to 6 days.

There are chances that people who have already faced the virus will have a better immune response and the ones who have taken their booster shots or vaccines will be required to make themselves quarantine for a lesser period.
The following categories have been made according to the rules and regulations which will cover most of the people:
1. What if someone tests Positive for Covid-19?
There is a prescribed isolation period in which, if the person has come in contact with the virus, he must quarantine for a period of at least 5 days. The isolation period starts from the very first day of the detection of the virus. In other words, when the person becomes symptomatic, that day will be counted as Day 0. The quarantine period will end at the end of the 6th day but there is one more condition. The condition is, for ending the isolation, the infected person should be completely fine having no symptoms or not having any sign of fever from the last 24 hours that too without taking any medical assistance. Wearing a mask is compulsory for every infected and non-infected person.
2. If someone has been exposed to the virus and he isn’t vaccinated yet or took the vaccine a long time back,
Those who haven’t taken their vaccine shots yet and those who have not had their booster shots are categorized into two segments. Those, who haven’t got vaccinated or got vaccinated a long time ago, need to be isolated for a 10-day period. And for the definition of a long time, for Pfizer shots, it is over five months, Moderna vaccine over six months and J&J shots over two months respectively.
3. If someone has been infected with COVID-19 who had taken their vaccine shots or booster shots recently,
If someone is caught with the virus recently, then there is no need to put them under quarantine. There are certain more persons who have taken their booster shots. This applies to those who have been fully vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine, Moderna vaccine or Vaccine shots of J&J not more than five months back, six months back, and two months before respectively. Also, if someone has made any contact with the Covid -19 virus in the last 90 days, he should stay at home and follow recommendations.
The above-mentioned category of persons wouldn’t be taken into consideration for the isolation period. Wearing masks and necessary precautions like social distancing, washing hands regularly, and maintaining hygiene is of utmost importance for everyone.
