Now, the Italians will need much more than just negative certificates. New Covid infections at this time are rising to above 100,000 cases per day. So, it is a cause for huge concern for the authorities.

Most Italians have supported the restrictions, which also include outdoor masks usage policies and mandates apart from holding the passes. The new restrictions have been introduced from Monday when police thronged all public places in Italy to spread the message. They are scanning train stations and asking people to show their negative certificates.

The government has decided to face the threat by passing new restrictions and encouraging more vaccine campaigns. All those who will stay away from vaccination will be left out of recreational as well as important daily activities. It can be something as simple as just taking a bus or shuttle. The Italians may be deprived.

All Italians using public services are also required to wear proper masks. Every public and recreational organization is keeping a tab on mask mandates and members’ vaccination status as well. The Italian Government has received a lot of flak over its decision to make masks mandatory and vaccination compulsory for anyone who is 50 years and above.

The Omicron infections are subtle, but that should not be a reason to roam around without vaccination. Moreover, if many infections keep surmounting, it will create huge pressure on the hospitals. In Italy, the first Coronavirus outbreak erupted in the month of February 2020. The country has full-vaccinated at least 86 % of the age 12 and above population. Moreover, 75% have received boosters.

The impending fine for not complying with the law is 100 euros. The fine is low in the beginning. However, the fine amount rises to something as high as 1,600 euros. This is for all those in the said age group and returning to office in mid-February.

Premier Mario Draghi has defended his administration and government, saying that it is necessary to enforce such a directorate for the betterment of the people. He also said that clinical data stresses complete vaccination schedules for people above 50 years. He also added that those who are 50 and above are under the high-risk group and can end up getting hospitalized.

However, if reports are anything to go by, two million people are positive at the moment. This has hugely impacted essential services. Moreover, many school districts are saying that they do not have enough teachers to reopen.

As directed by the government, Sicily and other states at first did not open their schools. They cited reasons, like shortage of teachers and staff. But after many parents went to court over it, the schools in a few states opened.

Draghi has said that he has a different idea from the last government. He has said that schools are fundamental to democracy. So, it is important that schools be kept open. He has also said that he is trying his best to keep the economy moving. Moreover, he also wants society to keep moving. And above all, he has reiterated that children’s education must not stop. It can be detrimental for society at large.

He also said that young people are socializing in the pandemic, so schools should not be any different. However, he added precautionary measures as well.
