Vaccination has been a major tool and method to safeguard the lives of people in the United States. As per the latest reports, The US Food and Drug Administration has been planning to introduce vaccines for the age group below 5 years.
Dr. Fauci Announced As Pfizer Is Conducting Clinical Trials
The vaccines were first approved in the month of December 2020 and only adults of 60 years and above were eligible to receive the initial two doses. With the passage of time, the White House Administration authorized adults of 18 years and above to be eligible for the vaccination.
During the month of July when the outbreak of the delta variant in the country came into the picture, the US CDC showed concern because the delta strain was attacking the young teens more. The delta version of covid 19 is considered to be the most lethal but was not contagious.
There were high cases of coronavirus due to the delta strain amongst the children between 5-17 years and considering the same, the US FDA then allowed young teens of 12-17 to be eligible for receiving the two initial doses of vaccination so that the adolescents can be saved from the terror of the covid 19.
In the month of October 2021, Pfizer and Moderna came up with clinical trials for the kids between 5-11, and they were found to be positive for the age group. By the end of the month of October, the US Food and Drug Administration authorized Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for the kids between 5-11, and for this President Biden spent millions on counseling and educating parents to get their kids vaccinated at the earliest.
After the outbreak of the omicron variant in the United States on 1st December 2021, It was found that the cases amongst the kids between 1-4 age have increased and they are at higher risk of getting infected as well as death. Although the omicron variant is less lethal and highly contagious, it targets people with low immunity levels and this particular age group possesses low immune power and effective steps were required to safeguard the lives of children of 1-4 years.
In the United States, any citizen above 5 years is eligible to receive the vaccination and anyone of 12 years and above can avail of the benefits of receiving booster shots.
Now as per the latest news available from the sources it has been confirmed that the US FDA is working vigorously to make vaccines available for kids less than 5 years old.
Dr. Anthony Fauci who is the lead medical advisor to the Federal Government has stated that the younger kids will receive three doses of vaccination as the two-dose vaccines are not sufficient enough to generate enough antibodies to fight against the omicron variant of covid 19 and it was found during the clinical trials conducted by Pfizer last month.
Pfizer has been conducting more clinical trials and will share the reports and data with the FDA very soon.
