Amid Controversies Spotify’s Deal With Joe Rogan Is Said To Be Over $200 Million. Spotify’s deal with Joe Rogan is said to be over $200 million according to a report by The New York Times and is twice the amount of Joe Rogan’s first deal with Spotify.
Rogan’s contract is for three and a half years and according to reports, the deal amount is likely to increase in the span of three and a half years. The figure was confirmed by ‘The Variety’ from a source of knowledge about the pact between Joe Rogan and Spotify.
Over the last few weeks, Joe Rogan has received backlashes and has been criticized by Spotify users for his racial slurs in the podcast. Later Rogan apologized for his actions through Instagram and called his action, “ the most regretful and shameful thing I’ve ever had to talk publicly”.
Spotify’s CEO Daniel Ek also apologized on the behalf of Rogan’s action and send a memo saying ‘deeply sorry’ about the situation after the employees were disappointed because of the racial slurs used by Joe Rogan in his podcast. Due to the controversies, about 70 episodes of Joe Rogan’s podcast were removed from Spotify.
Joe Rogan was also in an earlier controversy where he had published some misleading covid information and singer Niel Young demanded Spotify to either drop his songs or Joe’s podcast from the platform. The boycott of Niel Young was also joined by other artists including Indie Arie, Johnie Mitchell, etc.
