2021 was a roller coaster ride for the Woman of the Year who made all the headlines. Billboard’s Women In Music event began on Wednesday night with Olivia Rodrigo taking the stage for a transcending pre-filmed performance of her 2nd Sour single, Deja Vu. 

The song was performed with the band in an empty SoFi stadium. The star delivered the song with ease and powerful emotions that quickly pierced the hearts of listeners.

Later, Olivia was presented with the Woman of the Year award by the great singer Sheryl Crow. Sheryl recalled her experience a couple of months back, stating “I was shooting pool with my 11-year-old last night, and he was singing ‘Good 4 U’ at the top of his lungs, and when he was singing ‘Drivers License,” “I was like, ‘OK, little 11-year-old boy.’” She went on to praise the way Rodrigo is inspiring millions.

Sheryl shared the struggles she faced at her time when women struggled a lot to be architects of their own careers and she was completely blown away by Olivia at the height of success she is at this very young age.

Being an ardent admirer of the singer Olivia thanked Crow for the wonderful speech. Olivia ended her speech by giving a message to all the young girls out there quoting “ I am constantly moved by your vulnerability and your creativity and bravery,” she said. “And I promise everyone here today is working to make this world and this industry a better place for you.”

With the critically acclaimed debut single “Drivers License,” Rodrigo broke the internet with marvelous storytelling ability with her full-length album, Sour. It was named the No. 1 album of the year 2021 by Rolling Stone and one of the best albums of 2021 by the New York Times

The album Sour broke the record for the most-streamed album in a week in the history of Spotify by a female artist. All the 11 songs from the album picked a spot in the Billboard’s Hot 100. Rodrigo is the first female artist to achieve this with 11 or more songs in the top 30.
