In a recent interview, Cindy Anthony recalled the moment when Caylee was found dead. She remembers the moment the authorities confirmed the skeletal remains found near their home were Caylee’s.
Cindy looked back 12 years ago when her granddaughter was determined dead in a new Investigation Discovery series, Crime Scene Confidential. The series premiered Tuesday, March 8. The first episode of the series is focused on Casey Anthony’s murder trial.
It is a six-part series which is hosted by Alina Burroughs who was a former crime scene investigator. The series revisits and explores controversial murder cases in the U.S. Cindy shows her agony and gratitude simultaneously for the people who found Caylee’s body remains from the wooded area.
Cindy, Mother Of Casey Anthony, Recalls The Time When Caylee Was Found Dead
It was in December 2008 when the body was found in the wooded area near the Anthonys’ home. “I know you guys didn’t want to leave until you found every single [bone]. I remember.” Cindy told Alina in a clip shared on March 2. Alina replied that “We had an obligation to her and to you and your family to bring her home,” remembering the gravity of the truth to be shared with the Anthony family.
The news grabbed national headlines at that time when Cindy reported the missing of her granddaughter for 31 days. In July 2008 Casy was arrested for giving false statements to the investigators and child neglect. Her bail was further denied by the judge stating “woeful disregard for the welfare of her child.”
The case was a complete nutcracker. Caylee’s mother Casey was asked about her job at Universal Studios by the officials and after reaching the studios with the officers and seeing Casey mumbling around the investigators sensed something fishy. In many ways, Casey was suspicious of the officers.
Casey was also charged with first-degree murder and manslaughter of a child. But after weeks of trial, Antony was pleaded not guilty. Although Casey was charged with many deeds, the law failed to prove Casey was guilty. But charges of providing misleading information were on Casey.
The trial lasted for six weeks. The defense team proved Casey not guilty by countering the prosecution that the child had accidentally drowned in the swimming pool and the deceased’s grandfather George Anthony disposed of the body. The murder charges were dropped from Casey after the trial. The case was ruled a homicide and the cause of death was explained as “death by undetermined means.” The final verdict was both attacked and defended by the media.
At the end of the interview, Alina quoted that “I didn’t know how Cindy was going to react to me.” “I mean, I was a prosecution witness, so she could’ve seen me as someone who wanted to lock her daughter up. But she was very gracious. And I think in some ways, the interview gave her some closure.” “She really went through hell and back,” she continued. “and she’s never been the same.”
