Body shaming is not a new thing; it has been prevailing since the entertainment industry began and became so elaborated. But unlike earlier times, actresses aren’t scared to talk about the body shaming that the actresses have gone through in their careers.
An actress who recently came forward and talked about body shaming is the 63-year old Jamie Lee Curtis who is known for her contribution to movies like True Lies and Halloween.
In her recent Instagram post, Jamie Lee Curtis uploaded a picture of her in a yellow sweatshirt and grey pants sitting in a chair and holding a cookie, and is looking all comfortable and happy with her body and her belly. The photo of her is a look of Jamie Lee Curtis from her newly released movie “Everything Everywhere All At Once”.
‘Suck In Your Stomach A Bit’; Followed By Jamie Lee Curtis’s Post On Sucking Stomach,Lili Reinhart Has Come Forward To Share Her Experience Of Body-Shaming In The Industry
In the caption of the post, she talked about the movie and also talked about the hidden truth of the entertainment industry that is filled with concealers, body shapers, fillers, procedures, clothing, hair products, hair accessories, and more. Continuing the caption, she talked about the insecurities that she has been going through since a kid. Jamie Lee Curtis wrote, “..I want there to be no concealing of anything. I’ve been sucking my stomach since I was 11”.
Jamie Lee Curtis’s revelation of how insecure the actress have been when she was young has given courage to other actresses to come forward and talk about the kind of body shaming that they have put through as part of their profession.
The Riverdale actress Lili Reinhart has posted an excerpt from Jamie Lee Curtis on her Instagram story and then talked about her own experience of body shaming in the industry.
In her Instagram story, Lili Reinhart wrote, “A director once came up to me before a take and said “suck in your stomach a bit”. Unfortunately, it’s something I think about often when I’m filming a scene.
Glad it’s being talked about”. She also thanked Jamie Lee Curtis on her for talking fearlessly about it.
Jamie Lee Curtis and Lili Reinhart are not the only actresses that have been talking about body shaming in the past few days. A week ago, Yellowjet fame Melanie Lynskey has revealed that a member of the production team always approached her to say that the producer would love to get her a trainer.
Melanie has told that she has been fighting against body shaming since she was thirteen and she can’t believe that it is still talked about. The sad fact is that many of these actresses have been a victim of these body shaming from a very early age and they don’t feel happy and comfortable with the body that the big screen is showing us.
