Kadokawa previously confirmed with an announcement visual that a new anime project for the Sasaki and Miyano series is in the works (above). The first 12 episodes of the anime’s first season aired in January and concluded today.
In addition, the anime’s official Japanese Twitter account tweeted that “Sasaki and Miyano’s youth will continue” following the announcement.
The first season, directed by Shinji Ishihara, was animated by Studio DEEN. Maki Fuji created the character designs, while Yoshiko Nakamura was in charge of the overall plot. The music was composed by Kana Shibue.
Sasaki and Miyano’s main cast includes: In the role of Yoshikazu Miyano, Soma Saito
- Shumei is Yusuke Shirai’s character. Sasaki
- Masato Hanazawa, played by Yuma Uchida, is an anime character.
- Yoshitsugu Matsuoka plays taiga Hirano.
- Tasuku Kuresawa is played by Ryohei Arai in the film.
- Nobunaga Shimazaki takes the stage as Akira Kagura.
Mitsuhiro Ichiki plays Gonzaburo Tashiro in the Japanese version of the film.
It is based on the Shou Harusono manga series. On the Pixiv Comics platform, the manga has been serialized, and it is published in a single volume by Media Factory. The manga is being published in English by Yen Press and has the following plot summary:
It started like a typical old-school boys’ love story—the senior meets the junior, one of them falls in love, and so on. However, he hasn’t yet realized this despite Miyano’s self-proclaimed expertise in boys’ love. One of his own. As a result, Sasaki must ensure that their story has a happy ending!
Hirano to Kagiura (Hirano and Kagura) is currently being serialized in Media Factory’s Monthly Comic Gene magazine by the same author.
The manga series of the same name by Shou Harusono served as the inspiration for Sasaki and Miyano. The first tankoubon volume was released in 2016, and eight more have been published since then. Two light novels, a drama CD, and a spin-off manga featuring Taiga and Akira Kagiura were also inspired by the manga. Gene Pixiv is the current publisher of this work.

Harrison launched the Sasaki and Miyano manga in 2016 on the pixie website and has since published seven volumes. Two light novels by Kotoko Hachij, a drama CD, and a spin-off manga featuring the characters Taiga and Akira Kagiura were also inspired by the manga. The novel was inspired by Harrison’s spin-off manga, Hirano to Kagura.
