However, people have become more vocal about issues of racism, gender politics and sexual identity in recent years. Although still disrespectful to modern-day progressive society, the fight that paved the way for freedom and equal rights still has a long way to go, and this has been clearly demonstrated by star wars actors, John Boyega and Moses Ingram.

John Boyega addresses racism in the face of Lucasfilm
John Adedayo Bamidele Adegboyega, known professionally as John Boyega, rose to fame after a series of hit Hollywood movies, such as Attack the block (2011), Imperial dreams (2014), and The circle (2017). However, it was his appearance in the Lucasfilm universe that almost instantly propelled him to fame and stardom.

Boyega first appeared in star wars film the force awakens in 2015 as Finn, First Order Stormtrooper FN-2187. Shortly after, he reprized his role in The Last Jedi (2017) and The Rise of Skywalker (2019). However, it wasn’t until much later that his troubles during his tenure at Disney would become public knowledge. Boyega publicly spoke out in 2020 about the racism associated with a blatant sidelining of his role in the franchise that he faced during his years there.

Boyega Enjoys Disney Booth With Moses Ingram
After the launch of the last star wars series on Disney+, Obi Wan Kenobi, actor Moses Ingram who plays Inquisitor Reva, also known as the Third Sister, has been the victim of online hate mail, threats and racist comments. Disney+ quickly followed by releasing a public statement condemning such actions and series chief Ewan McGregor released a video statement saying he and everyone else at the franchise stood next to Moses Ingram and said the people making such racist comments could not be said to be true. star wars Fans.

However, it is not the first nor the last that we will see such condemnable actions being brought to the fore and that other actors will have to speak out publicly in order to stop the onslaught of online hate.
