Patton Oswalt may have blurted out that a Eternals the sequel is in development with Chloé Zhao returning to direct.
Eternals was one of Marvel Studios’ most polarizing films to date, with the film also introducing many new characters. So far, we don’t know where the characters will appear next in the MCU, and a sequel isn’t guaranteed. However, the movie still ended with “Eternals will return…” like many MCU movies.
Patton Oswalt appeared during the mid-credits scene for Eternals like Pip the Troll with Harry Styles’ Starfox. Kevin Feige recently teased after Marvel Studios’ presentation at San Diego Comic-Con that there will be more Pip and Starfox in the future. Well, on TodayOswalt said that a Eternals the sequel happens with Oscar winner Chloe Zhao:
“They announced that there will be a sequel to Eternals, Chloe Zhao is going to direct it. So hopefully there will be more Starfox and Pip adventures.

There was no word at all Eternals-plans tied to San Diego Comic-Con this year, but there are still plenty of slots open for a sequel to fill. If a Eternals the sequel is indeed happening, there is a good chance that it will be announced at D23 in September. The story takes place over two periods. A storyline takes place in the past when they functioned as a great team and a close family unit. The second storyline is in the present, when the group has fractured and divided, content to live among humans, hiding in plain sight. The overriding threat of the Deviants, once again threatening the existence of humanity, means the Eternals must put aside their differences and band together.
Chloe Zhao directed Eternals from a screenplay she co-wrote with Patrick Burleigh, Kaz Firpo and Ryan Firpo. The cast of the Marvel Studios project includes Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Salma Hayek as Ajak, and Angelina Jolie as Thena.
