Despite the recent wave of controversy that has overwhelmed the flash star Ezra Miller, producer Barbara Muschietti remains optimistic about the DC film’s future.
Following the Warner Bros. merger. Discovery, DC Films seems to be in the midst of an overhaul and has started to take a toll. Although nearing completion, Leslie Grace’s project bat girl was canceled by the studio and it looks like other DC projects, like Sasha Calle’s super girlmay suffer the same fate.
Even before bat girl was left out, the flash was on shaky ground. Earlier this year star Ezra Miller was arrested twice following violent incidents and they are currently facing a series of other allegations. However, Barbara Muschietti suggested the flash is still slated for release in June 2023.
As a major DCEU project, the flash has a significantly higher budget than bat girl, which was originally slated for an HBO Max exclusive release. It may also be fundamental in shaping the future direction of DC’s film production. As such, canceling it doesn’t seem like a viable option for Warner Bros. Discovery.
There have been calls for Ezra Miller to be replaced in the film, but now that filming has wrapped, it would surely be an expensive process on top of the film’s already impressive budget. Next bat girlof the cancellation for apparently much less serious reasons, it seems more difficult for Warner Bros. to justify the exit the flash.
However, despite the DC’s revamp and the cancellation of other projects, the flash Producer Barbara Muschietti said “all is well in Flash land,” according to a post shared by “The Flash Film News” on Twitter.
Given Ezra Miller’s frequent recent run-ins with the law and their recent evasion of authorities trying to serve them a court order, it’s unlikely many would agree that “all is well in Flash Land.” . However, it looks like Warner Bros. Discovery has so far not decided to edit, delay or put the film on hold.
Obviously a huge cast and crew worked on the flash and it seems unfair that all of their hard work should suffer because of Miller’s actions, but for many the inclusion of Ezra Miller in the lead role will be reason enough to give the flash a miss.
Directed by Andy Muschietti from a screenplay written by Birds of prey scribe Christina Hodson, the flash is inspired by Breaking point comic book storyline, which followed Barry Allen as he navigated an altered DC Universe. Written by Geoff Johns and drawn by Andy Kuber, Breaking point drastically changed the status of the DC Comics Universe and led to the launch of the new 52 titles.
Besides Ezra Miller, the flash also features Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck as two distinct versions of Batman, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Antje Traue as Faora-Ul, and Sasha Calle as Supergirl. Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Rudy Mancuso and Luke Brandon Field are also on board in undisclosed roles.
the flash opens June 23, 2023. Stay tuned for all the latest news regarding Ezra Miler’s future in the DC Extended Universe, and be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
