On August 3, Indiana Legislator Jackie Walorski, 58, and two members of her crew were killed in a head-on collision. One was Walorski’s former colleague and now employed by the House of Representatives, and the other was his director of communications. According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, they were driving when another car swerved into their lane.
The heartbreaking news was shared on Facebook by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, who wrote: ‘On August 3, 2022 at approximately 12:32 p.m., the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-car accident on SR 19 south of SR 119. Left of center, a northbound passenger car collided head-on with a southbound sport utility vehicle. The three passengers in the southbound car—Jackie Walorski, 58, of Elkhart, Indiana; Zachery Potts, 27, of Mishawaka, Indiana; and Emma Thomson, 28, of Washington, DC—all died from their injuries. Edith Schmucker, 56, of Nappanee, Indiana, was the sole occupant of the northbound car, and she was pronounced dead at the site. Before accepting the position of district manager for the Indiana House of Representatives, Potts served as Walorski’s campaign manager. Walorski’s director of communications was Thomson.
Who is Dean Swihart?
Walorski was born on August 17, 1963 and died at the age of 58, two weeks before her birthday. On July 16, 1995, she married Dean Swihart, beginning a 27-year union. Even though there isn’t a lot of information available to the general public, Walorski sometimes divulges a few secrets. For example, she claimed in a 2014 tweet that they both served as missionaries in Romania. “Jackie and her husband Dean previously spent four years as missionaries in Romania, where they established and managed a foundation to provide food and medical supplies to underprivileged children there,” reads her biography of the Congress.
Swihart taught music to K-6 students at Hums Elementary and Twin Branch Elementary, as confirmed seven years ago. In 2015, Swihart received praise from the School of Mishawaka for his performance at the Miami Heat vs. Indiana Pacers basketball game in Indianapolis. Kudos to Dean Swihart, K–6 music teacher at Hums Elementary and Twin Branch Elementary, for a superb performance of the national anthem during the Indiana Pacers vs. Miami Heat game in Indianapolis on Easter Sunday, according to the post. There were around 18,000 spectators at the sold-out game. He appeared frequently by Walorski both during his candidacy and after he took office in 2019. The 116th Congress is in session, she tweeted at the time. It was a privilege to take the oath with Dean, our family and our friends. It’s an honor to be your representative in the 2nd District, and I’m ready to take up the fight for you.
Walorski’s death has been brought to Dean’s attention, according to a tweet from Warloski’s official account. The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office recently told Dean Swihart, Jackie’s husband, that Jackie died in a car accident this afternoon, the statement said. In order to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, she came home. Please remember his family in your prayers.
