On Wednesday, August 3, Indiana Congresswoman Jackie Walorski died in a car accident. There were no survivors and it is still unclear how seriously injured they were. At approximately 12:32 p.m., the incident occurred on SR 19 south of SR 119. Only two weeks separate Walorski’s 58th birthday from his 59th.
According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, Walorski, 58, of Elkhart, Indiana, Zachery Potts, 27, of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Emma Thomson, 28, of Washington, D.C., were the victims of collision between two vehicles. Prior to becoming district manager for the Indiana House of Representatives, Potts served as campaign manager for Walorski while Thomson served as campaign manager. Authorities also reported the death of Edith Schmucker, the driver of the car that rammed Walorski’s car. Police say the automobile Schmucker was driving veered left and fatally collided with a southbound sport utility vehicle in Indiana, killing a total of four people. But there was no explanation as to why his car took a wrong turn.
Who was Edith Schmucker?
The car that hit Warloski’s car was driven by Edith Schmucker, 56, of Nappanee, Indiana. She was originally from Warsaw and worked as a personal care worker (PCA) at Millers Senior Living Community on Clearvista Pl in Indianapolis. She graduated from Warsaw High School in 1985. On Facebook, she continued to list her relationship status as “Single”. She put Tyler Lee Schmucker and Mikel D Renze as her sons on Facebook even though her status is listed as “single”.
People who knew Schmucker noted that she had a big heart and would sacrifice anything for anyone. Tamra Schmucker, Edith Schmucker’s niece, wrote: “When I was a child, you taught me by continually telling me how much you loved me and running your fingers through my hair. Until we next met.
