Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown has been arrested for illegal speeding. Under an offseason contract with the Baltimore Ravens, Brown was acquired by Arizona. According to DPS spokesman Bart Graves, he was arrested Wednesday, August 4 at 7:05 a.m. while traveling south on the 101 loop in the HOV lane. Later, he was taken to the Maricopa County Jail.
“We are aware of Hollywood Brown’s position and have notified the NFL office as necessary. According to KTAR News 92.3 FM and Arizona Sports, the Cardinals said in a statement, ‘We will speak further if necessary.’ Arizona Public Safety informed the magazine that he had been arrested.According to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports, Brown recorded a speed of 126 mph.
According to reports, Brown was not at the team’s morning practice on Wednesday. Prior to the start of training camp, the 25-year-old wide receiver was placed on the non-football injury list. He apparently has a hamstring problem and is recovering. Before the team removed Brown from the NFI roster on Tuesday, Aug. 2, it was something of a precautionary measure, according to head coach Kliff Kingsbury. Just bring it inside, that’s all. We’ll start it with walkthroughs. If all goes according to plan, Monday should be a date, Kingsbury said on Tuesday.
With the Baltimore Ravens in 2021, Brown had a career-high 1,008 yards and six touchdowns. On opening night of the NFL Draft, he was dealt to the Cardinals along with Baltimore’s 100th overall pick in exchange for Arizona’s first-round selection.
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins was suspended by the NFL for the first six games of the 2022 season before Brown was arrested. Hopkins was charged with violating the league’s ban on performance-enhancing drugs. Hopkins said in a statement that it is still investigating what may have led to a positive result on a November sample.
Hopkins reportedly said, “I have never tested positive for the use of performance-enhancing substances in my 10-year career in the NFL.” “I was puzzled and amazed to find that my November test revealed traces of a banned substance. I have always used a holistic approach and been very careful about what I put into my body, so I work with my team to understand how this could have happened. But despite my best efforts, it is obvious that I did not take enough precautions. For this I apologize to the Cardinals organization as a whole, to the fans of the team and my teammates. I never want to disappoint my team. “I’ll investigate this thoroughly. I’ll post more details as soon as I have them. Hopkins can join the team for their Week 7 game and is allowed to participate in training and pre-season games.
