Captain America is one of the greatest Marvel heroes the world has ever known. His legacy lives on forever in everyone’s hearts, despite people calling him the weakest Avenger.
Steve Rogers became America’s greatest hero when he wore the red and blue suit and became a super soldier after volunteering to join the army in World War II. He was turned into the greatest weapon against the Nazis and he became the people’s champion.
Not until he suffers a tragic end where he and his best friend, Bucky Barnes, attempt to shoot down a Nazi plane. Bucky was reportedly killed in action as Steve landed on cold waters where he had been frozen for years. When his body was found years later, he was still alive. It was the start of his time with the Avengers.
Is Captain America really the weakest?
Stan Lee and Don Heck’s number Avengers #22 saw the Avengers forced apart after the Enchantress and the Power Man framed them for several crimes they didn’t commit. However, Captain America won’t take that shit, so he’s gone on a mission to make things right for the Avengers. During his duel with Power Man, Steve proudly tells the villain, “Do you still think the Avengers is an easy game, Power Man? And remember, you fight the weak!”
This isn’t the first time Captain America has been called weak. At first avengers stories, the Avengers presumed Steve to be dead after being sent flying through Kang’s timestream. It was hard for the team to come to terms with the loss, and Giant-Man said that despite being the weakest link, his absence will leave a void.
Modern fans would be scratching their heads in confusion as to why Captain America receives these kinds of insults. The legacy he left among his co-Avengers and the people he helped is reason enough to prove he’s one of the strongest.
