Having previously worked with David Leitch, Brad Pitt had no trouble saying yes to starring in the 2022 action-comedy High-speed train. The director has starred as Brad Pitt’s stuntman in many of the actor’s acclaimed films, including Fight Club (1999), Ocean’s Eleven (2001)and much more.

High-speed train is riddled with a star-studded cast including Joey King, Sandra Bullock, Hiroyuki Sanada, Michael Shannon and many more. The film was adapted from the Japanese novel Maria Beetle written by Kotaro Isaka
The action-comedy was ripe for improv
Originally intended to be an R-rated film, Antoine Fuqua wanted to make the film as violent as John McTiernan’s die hard. But after the film got lighter, Brad Pitt was hired as the lead. In an interview with Complex, he commented the same:
“The first thing that was obvious about this script and we read it in the wettest and loneliest part of Covid was that it was so funny and all of these characters had their own thing, so I knew we were going to draw an all-star cast – well, mostly all-star cast”

With most of the film featuring the cast on the train, the story is filled with fast-paced action and fun moments sprinkled throughout. Aaron Taylor-Johnson said how much he liked the script because of the humor, he said:
“So me and Brian [Brian Tyree Henry], we just ran with it and kept going every day, we pushed it and improvised, lots of ad-libbing. And it was really joyful to do that. Every day was truly a blessing.
Famous for his performance in Ringu, mortal combatand The last Samourai, the actor is versed and skilled in acting. But despite his incredible acting portfolio, the actor said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that he struggled to keep up with Brad Pitt, describing the process:
“…so I have to listen carefully, what’s next, I was scared but I was able to enjoy…”

He further stated that Brad Pitt would always try to improvise the fights, since Brad Pitt’s stunt coordinator Greg Rementer said the actor did 95% of his own stunts, we can imagine that must have occur multiple times.
High-speed train is now in theaters.
