Marvel Comics’ Next Chapter shows Jane Foster wielding a flaming sword in an official preview. CBR has received an official preview from Marvel for Jane Foster & The Mighty Thor #3which will soon land in comic book stores.

The book is by writer Torunn Gronbekk, followed by artist Michael Dowling, colorist Jesus Aburtov and letterer Joe Sabino. In the preview, she takes Mjolnir to war against S’ym, but he was quickly disarmed. At that exact moment, his all-purpose weapon, Undrjarn, binds and transforms into a promethium arrowhead in his hand, and thus the massive, flaming sword was made.

Jane Foster gets an upgraded weapon
We know that Jane Foster succeeded Odinson as the god of thunder when the latter was considered unworthy to wield Mjolnir. But after wielding the legendary hammer, she had become the Mighty Thor.

Although her time as Thor eventually ended, leaving Odinson to save his title as the God of Thunder, she later got the role of Valkyrie as a role in the War of the Realms event. By the events of the comics, Thor Odinson had secured the role of Asgard’s all-father. After Thor’s demise, however, she is called upon to wield Mjolnir again.

The official synopsis reads:
The battle against the Dark Elves and their allies rages in Asgard, and the warriors of the Golden City are losing – badly. Will Jane be able to find clues to the whereabouts of the Thunder God in Limbo – or will she get lost in the dark magic of S’ym?
