In April of this year, when the WarnerMedia division of AT&T and Discovery completed their merger, Warner Bros. Discovery was formed. Every high-end industry depends on incredible profitability and efficient production. Naturally, this also applies to the film industry. According to Jason Blum in a recent Variety interview, budget has the biggest impact on how studio movies are made. Depending on the budget and cost of making a particular film, a director decides what to do next.
At Blumhouse Productions, as Blum himself explained, directors tend to “trading big budgets for control.” The CEO says that despite doing commercial films, Blumhouse Productions has adopted the French Auteur approach, which allows filmmakers more control than they otherwise get in Hollywood. Here is what the founder also said in the same context:
“We’re giving them more control than they typically have in Hollywood, but they also have to give us something: a commitment to make films on a budget. How studio shooting works correlates to budget, more the movie is expensive, the more time the director spends strategizing how he’s going to succeed.

The producer, to elaborate on his point, gave a rough example of the filmmaking process that ensues once a high budget is involved.
“On a $200 million movie, the director spends 80% of his time on politics and 20% on making the movie. On our [Blumhouse Productions’] 4 million dollar movie, 100% of the time is spent making a good movie.
Jason Blum also talked about how Hollywood mostly relies on ego, as most companies are usually quick to turn down scripts if they’re indifferent to it. To shed light on his production company, the producer said that Blumhouse is a contrast to such logic because they make films that are not expensive.

The decision to set aside bat girl was not a surprise just for fans, but for many industry experts and other celebrities. However, as Jason Blum said, it “understood why they [Warner Bros.] chose to do so. According to him, the reason may be more recent management. It’s no surprise the media conglomerate wants a fresh start where it can hope “mark DC in some way.”
It seems Blum’s claim is undeniable, as CEO David Zaslav had already said something similar when deciding to cancel the bat girl Release. According to him, the simple objective is to lead the growth of the DC brand by making a “strategic change”. Here is what Zaslav had to say:
“The goal is to grow the DC brand, to grow the DC characters but also, our job is to protect the DC brand. And that’s what we’re going to do.
What the Future Represents Under Warner Bros. Discovery’s “strategic shift” will take place soon. Meanwhile, you can see Blumhouse Productions’ latest attempt They theybroadcast exclusively on Peacock.
