Former American football player Gundy played quarterback in his previous career. He joined the Oklahoma Sooners football team in 1990, a college football team. He was a member of the worldwide collegiate Greek-letter fraternity Delta tau Delta while attending his university.
He worked as an assistant in his alma institution. He was first coach of the team’s backs before becoming offensive coordinator. When he trained internal receivers, he also recruited coordinators.
