The Constantine The reboot series produced by JJ Abrams for HBO Max is expected to move forward, despite the elimination of other DC projects at Warner Bros. Discovery.
The past few weeks have seen bat girl canceled and the future of much of DC’s television and film programming put into question. However, while DC projects such as super girl and harley quinn face an uncertain future, Constantine seems to be moving forward.
According to a new report, the reboot series produced by JJ Abrams is progressing and will not be subject to bat girlit’s fate.
Deadline reported that JJ Abrams Constantine is still in development at Warner Bros. Disovery and remains set to launch on HBO Max.
The report says JJ Abrams’ reboot is “on solid ground and making progress.” The report notes that the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery’s David Zaslav is a fan of Abrams and as the director’s other DC projects in development have struggled to get off the ground, progress is being made on the Constantine series.
JJ Abrams’ Constantine is understood to be a darker reboot of the character, who has previously been played on the big screen by Keanu Reeves and on TV by Matt Ryan. The reboot will feature a diverse track.
Other JJ Abrams DC projects in development include a Superman film written by Ta-Nehisi Coates, which is expected to feature a black actor as the Man of Steel, and a film based on the magically-powered Zatanna.
