Was Moses Kuria detained for alleged election fraud? Recent developments cast the politician in a different light
Moses Kuria, a Kenyan MP representing Gatundu South, is once again under the spotlight after alleging his opposing party rigged the election.
The politician’s most recent allegations also publicized his earlier arrest in 2020 and damaged the candidate’s reputation because the Criminal Investigations Directorate summoned him for making false charges.
Why was Moses Kuria arrested?
Moses Kuria’s political career has been highly controversial, beginning with his 2020 jail term for domestic violence and continuing with his current voter fraud charges that even mention the president as part of an alleged conspiracy.
In 2020 Moses was arrested for allegedly hitting and kicking a woman called Joyce Wanja at the Royal Media Services Studio.
According to reports, Joyce was an activist who worked as a television analyst. She demanded that the MP retract his remarks about women in a previous speech.
The victim said in a video: “Everything he said about women was insulting, and he made remarks in front of children, so I told him to think about it and retract it, but instead , he attacked me.”
Four witnesses at the Studio testified against the MP in the assault case and as a result of his conduct, the MP for Gatundu Sud was arrested for assault.
Gubernatorial Candidate Vote Requests
Moses Kuria, an MP for Gatundu Sud who ran for governor of Kiambu, is now alleging electoral fraud.
The politician has received a lot of criticism from the public and other politicians for adopting shady tactics to polarize Kenyan voters in the election. Moïse claimed his Facebook instead of alerting the police to the fraud, claiming,
High alert! In the next 20 minutes, 40 trucks carrying marked ballots will leave State Lodge Nakuru for various locations. Media, please intervene to stop them. Most trucks have GK plate numbers.
The Criminal Investigations Directorate took an interest in the claim. They called the lawmaker and asked him to come to the nearest police station to provide a statement after further investigating the complaint.
The running mate of the election for Moses Kuria
Despite his earlier controversy, Moses Kuria, who despises women, has Faith Mwaura as his running mate for Kiambu’s gubernatorial race. With a Bachelor of Commerce and Masters in Real Estate from Scotland, Faith is a capable running partner for the candidate.
Moïse said that because he intends to focus on the real estate sector throughout his term as governor, his running mate will be crucial to his long-term leadership.
There were rumors that Kuria, Moise’s running mate, would move on to another candidate, but Mwaura refuted all claims and supported Moise throughout the election campaigns.
