Become one of the most loved franchises by fans, The Karate Kid (1984) followed the journey of young teenagers who learn martial arts to stand up to bullies. They were taught by a martial arts teacher called Mr.Miyagi. The story has now been revived in a series called Cobra Kai.

Cobra Kai is a sequel to the first film in the franchise, putting an interesting twist on the hero-villain dynamic. He sees Ralph Macchio and William Zabka reprise their roles, but enemies this time.

Commenting on his return in Season 4 as the series’ antagonist and reviving the Cobra Kai dojo to its toxic heights, Thomas Griffith said in an interview with Vulture:
“Karate Kid III was my first movie, so it’s always been a part of me. But I had no interest in repeating what I’ve done in the past, so it was really refreshing to hear that I could take this 80s villain archetype and show off different colors.
Mike Barnes returns for revenge
For the uninitiated, Mike Barnes played by Sean Kanan was the antagonist in The Karate Kid Part III. The teenager was trained by Terry Silver and Kreese to cripple Daniel LaRusso and was much less likeable than Johnny in retrospect.

While his return is unexplained, it will be an interesting addition as the Cobra Kai alum’s actions during the All Valley Tournament resulted in the dojo being banned from the competition and leading to its closure. Many fans believe the character could help Terry Silver run his “ruthless” dojo.
