As various DC film and television projects continue to be canceled, Berlanti Productions The Green Lantern The series for HBO Max would continue to move forward.
The Green Lantern was announced in 2019, along with the now canceled strange adventures series. Despite strange adventures never got past the development stage, progress is apparently still being made on The Green Lantern.
The series will mark the first time the character has headlined a live-action adaptation since the much-maligned 2011 The Green Lantern film, which starred Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan.
The The Green Lantern The series is expected to focus on several Green Lanterns, including Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz, and Alan Scott.
A report from THR reveals that sources close to the project have said progress is still being made on the series, which has yet to receive a release date. It is the most expensive series ever produced by Berlanti Productions, the company that previously ran The CW’s “Arrowverse” DC shows.
Greg Berlanti of Berlanti Productions previously co-wrote the 2011 big screen The Green Lantern. Warner Bros. Discovery hopes the new series will do significantly better with audiences than the movie, which has been considered one of DC’s biggest flops.
The strange adventures series which was announced alongside The Green Lantern would have been quietly scrapped prior to the Warner Bros. merger. Discovery and wasn’t dropped as part of DC’s cull that affected projects like bat girl.
