Cry 6 Star Melissa Barrera is backing Neve Campbell for her conclusion not to return to the upcoming horror sequel due to a pay dispute. She signed up for the franchise in the fifth installment of 2022, Screamas new protagonist Sam Carpenter.

The sequel is a successful return to theaters for the very first time since 2011, the acclaimed horror franchise is set to continue with Scream 6. After Sam grapples with a dark family legacy and horrific murder rampage following a new Ghostface entry that diverts his attention to the fandom community. And “legacyquels,” the recent franchise star was set to return in a follow-up with other members including Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Jenny Ortega and Courteney Cox.

Scream 6 Star backs Neve Campbell for turning down disappointing offer
Despite the return of the sequel she is witnessing the return of most of the surviving actors, Neve Campbell has announced that she will not be returning for Cry 6 due to his disappointment and frustration with the salary he was offered. Because of this, the film will be the first in the franchise to not feature famous last girl Sydney Prescott.

In an interview with Variety, Melissa Barrera voices her support for the actress’ decision to star in Netflix’s Keep Breathing. The star says she valued Neve Campbell’s opinion because of her personal experience as a woman of color, relating to times when she felt her investment in a project had been underestimated. She adds:
“It was shocking, but also, as a woman, I get it. Especially as a woman of color, I deal with these kinds of things all the time where I feel like they don’t pay me not what I know I’m worth. But usually, to me, I feel like it’s because I’m a Latina, and they don’t appreciate us as much as white women. So if Neve being a white woman feels undervalued, it shows what a problem it is in the industry.I applaud her for sticking to what she believes in.

Why did Neve Campbell leave Scream 6?
Neve Campbell’s exit from Cry 6 is an unfortunate situation, but Sidney is one of the few surviving characters from the original film to still exist in the series as the heart of the sequel. However, Neve Campbell’s view is reasonable and justified. As one of the long-running franchises continues, she deserves to be paid a salary that matches her prominence, rather than seeing treatment that she admits men wouldn’t receive.
