The more my white hair grows, the less I want to take and post pictures of myself. 👻 But I wanted to post a photo with this poem that took me 3 days to write & I didn’t want to rely on a past photo. So I am channeling a release from my grip on my vanity and insecurity, instead of going with the flow, as I attempted with this poem. 🤍 These stanzas were born from reflections on my white hair and my battle with a little spider to stop weaving its web on my balcony. The canvas made me shiver and swear every time I walked on my balcony in the dark; it tickled my flesh and stuck to my hair. At first, I used a criterion to rip the web. The same criteria I used to knight Lavi since I always call him “young gentleman” (I used to call Roxi “young lady”). I don’t need quarantine to be this weird, so don’t blame it. 🤪 Anyway, after 3 days of the spider rebuilding its web – its home – I stopped beating about its existence. Eventually the wind had to move it in the night, and it reminded me that one day the wind will pick up my ashes and move me too. 💀 This poem isn’t perfect, but I decided to post it anyway. I call that bravery, not in the sense of facing fire or being in the line of fire, but in the sense of showing vulnerability. 🤍 Please don’t steal my poem. Jodi became interested in sports while attending elementary school and preferred to spend her free time with boys rather than girls, continuing this in high school where she played football and basketball. After enrolling in 1990, she enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin and around the same time started going to the gym. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1994 and went on to study at the Cooper Institute in Dallas, where she earned her personal trainer certification.
She took kickboxing lessons while in college, but quit after choosing to focus entirely on bodybuilding.
bodybuilding career
Jodi competed in her first competition – USA Powerlifting Federation Texas State Championships – in 1996, winning in the 111-pound weight class, and the same year she won the American Drug Free Powerlifting Association (ADFPA) Powerlifting Federation Longhorn Open in the 104-pound weight class. in three 24-Hour Fitness Gyms Triathlon Fitness Challenges in 1998 – she won the Club, Texas level and the Regional, Texas level, then finished fourth nationally. She tried something quite new and competed in three Galaxy Nova Federation competitions finishing 12th at the Texas Grand Prix in 2000, 15th at the Nationals in 2001, while she also placed 12th at the Championships. Nova USA the same year.
Jodi won second place in the NPC Heart of Texas Open bodybuilding division in 2001 and finished 3rd in her tricks division, while the following year saw her place 4th in the NPC short tricks division Lone Star Classic. Jodi also competed in the short figure divisions at the NPC Junior Nationals and the NPC Team Universe Figure Nationals, placing 17th and 19th respectively (tie). 2003 saw her place 7th in the under 5ft 2in division at NPC Junior USA, and she went on to place 4th in the short digits division at NPC Pittsburgh, followed by her sixth place finish in the division short numbers at the NPC Junior Nationals. The same year, she also placed 5th in the under 5-foot-2 division at the NPC Team Universe Figure Nationals.
In 2004, Jodi placed 5th, 2nd, and 12th in the under 5-foot-2 divisions at the NPC Junior USA, NPC Emerald Cup, and NPC Junior Nationals, respectively. She competed in the under 5-foot-2 tricks division at the 2005 NPC Junior Nationals, finishing 11e, while she placed fourth in the same division at NPC USA. The following year, she placed 10th at the NPC Team Universe/Figure Nationals and 12th at the NPC USA, before winning in the lightweight (LW) class at the NPC Europa Supershow amateur bodybuilding. She placed 8th in the same category at the NPC Nationals (bodybuilding), then in 2007 she won the lightweight division at NPC Team Universe (bodybuilding).
Jodi’s last competition before her retirement was at the International Federation of Bodybuilders (IFBB) World Amateur Championships (Bodybuilding) in 2007, where she placed 13th. Since then, she has been working as a personal trainer, both in the gym and online.
