Disney+ Loki introduced us to Sylvie, the female variant who had spent millennia escaping from the Time Variance Authority by living in apocalypses, only to find that everything was controlled by three automaton androids. But things are never easy for the Lokies. After reaching the end of time and battling with Loki, a version of Kang was defeated, only to give way to a worse variant.

As the Multiversal Saga begins and the Marvel Cinematic Universe draws closer to ruling the Kang Dynasty, a McDonald’s finds Sylvie employed and serving Happy Meals to pass her time after causing the Multiverse to collapse.

Sophia di Martino is back in Loki Season 2 as Sylvie
The female and an extremely dangerous variant of Loki, the god of mischief, was born as Loki Laufeydottir in Asgard but having been ruled as a Nexus event, she was taken over by the TVA and any trace of her existence has been erased. In the original Marvel comics, however, there was another version of this female god, not quite Asgardian but still powerful.

Sylvie Lushton is a human teenager residing in Bruxton, Oklahoma, a transitional home for reincarnated Asgardians after the events of Ragnarok, a repeating cyclical event of death and rebirth that consumes Asgard and its people. During reincarnation, the rebirth of Asgard who found refuge in Oklahoma also ushers in the trickster god who endows Sylvie with Asgardian powers and grants her knowledge of magic.

The MCU adopts both versions—Lady Loki Laufeydottir and Sylvie Lushton—and Sophia Di Martino is cast as Sylvie Laufeydottir, the variant that hunts and is in turn hunted by TVA.

Like the filming of Loki Season 2 goes full steam ahead, with the cast spotted in a set built like a 1970s McDonald’s. The end of Season 1 had witnessed a timeline shift as Sophie slays the One Who Remains at the Citadel at the end of time. As another (and presumably more evil) version of Kang takes over, the TVA fails to acknowledge Loki and the series which primarily serves as a redemption arc for the titular character following the events of 2012, the series that made tipping the scales of the Multiversal Saga still has a lot to offer, but suffice it to say that Sophia di Martino as Sylvie will return with full Loki energy!
Loki Season 2 will premiere on Disney+ in summer 2023.
