Daredevil is undoubtedly one of Marvel Comics’ most striking and special heroes. His skill set is quite impressive, but like any hero, there is a weakness for every strength. It seems that the Daredevil disadvantage is all too common.
The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen fought a villain in Daredevil #25 comic number that shares the same powers as his. This enemy is also visually impaired and Matt Murdock seemed to learn the truth about his own weakness while trying to outplay this opponent.
Murdock’s keen senses are his best asset; this helps him navigate the world and identify the locations of his enemies. He uses echolocation skills and radar sensors to detect movement, and he’s so good that sometimes his friends doubt whether he’s actually blind or not.
Daredevil’s biggest weakness is so common
In Daredevil #25, created by VC’s Mark Waid, Chris Samnee, Javier Rodriguez and Joe Caramagna, Murdock takes on a villain named Ikari who is blind and also has heightened senses. Thinking this would block enemy radar, Murdock lit a match and set off the sprinkler alarm. When the water poured out, it drowned out Murdock’s senses, rendering his radar useless. Ikari, unharmed and oblivious to the sprinkler, grabbed Murdock and beat him to death.
The sprinkler system blocked all of Murdock’s senses, making it difficult for him to locate his opponent, and it also caused difficulty on his end, hence his wish not to pass out. Now, it’s finally revealed that excessive water sound frequency nullifies Murdock’s powers. Anyone who can set the sprinkler alarm can easily beat the heck out of Hell’s Kitchen!
This is just one of Daredevil’s weaknesses, but that doesn’t mean it’s the only way to defeat a hero as smart and resourceful as Murdock.
