Berkmar High School today received a call from police after a gunshot was heard in the school area.
A report of a suspicious figure seen on one of the school’s athletic fields led to the first call to school authorities at this time. As a precaution, the school was locked down while police searched the building. There are rumors that the students at the school are safe and an investigation is underway, although more information and details about the suspect are still unknown.
American Berkema High School is located in Lilburn, Georgia. There are around 2,912 students in grades 9-12, and everyone is rumored to be safe at the moment.
Durant Williams is the school principal. To reduce overcrowding in adjacent schools caused by the expansion of Gwinnett County, the school opened in 1966. Secondary schools are adjacent to BHS, including Sweetwater Secondary and Berkmar Secondary.
A new main school entrance, gymnasium, two-story offices, classrooms, media center, and improved parking were added to Berkmar in 2002.
Three school buildings, two gymnasiums, a theater and numerous portable classrooms are all present in Berkmar. Baseball diamonds, batting cages, softball fields, driving ranges, and four tennis courts are all located near the soccer field. Above a parking lot, a football training center was built. Additionally, classrooms have become overcrowded due to the new football training center.
Director Al Taylor said in a letter to parents and guardians that the minor was taken into custody after administrators learned of the unloaded handgun following a shooting incident. Berkmar.

After searching the student, who made no threats, administrators discovered the firearm, according to Jorge Quintana, spokesperson for Gwinnett County Public Schools. School police accused the teenager of having a weapon on school property and a gun while underage.
While on other occasions in 2014 Berkmar High School on Pleasant Hill Road was briefly evacuated apparently due to a bomb threat. The event delayed the school’s dismissal, according to Gwinnett County Schools, but no further information was provided.
Berkmar High School speculated that there was a shooter in the school. He remains at large and no arrests have been made. A Twitter user posted that there was an active shooter in the school.
