Wednesday US time will see the start of a lawsuit filed by the widow of NBA great Kobe Bryant over images of his body that were taken shortly after his death.
After the basketball player died in a helicopter crash in 2020, along with their daughter and seven others, Vanessa Bryant filed a lawsuit against the LA County Sheriff’s Office and the city’s fire department for injury to life private, demanding millions in unspecified damages.
Ms Bryant alleges deputies shared the footage with firefighters who arrived at the scene of the crash and failed to remove it for forensic purposes. According to the lawsuit, a deputy showed the photos to bar guests and a firefighter to off-duty colleagues.
Gianna, their 13-year-old daughter, Kobe Bryant, and other parents and players were traveling by chartered helicopter to a women’s basketball tournament when it crashed in the misty Calabasas hills west of Los Angeles.
