A new report reveals that despite the cancellation of bat girl at Warner Bros. Discovery, Leslie Grace could still star as the character in future DC films.
DC fans were recently shocked when Warner Bros. Discovery announced bat girl would no longer be published. Principal photography had wrapped on the film, originally slated as an HBO Max original before being revised for theatrical release, with a first director’s cut already completed.
While Leslie Grace bat girl The debut has now been shelved, however, fans can still see the actress as the classic DC character.
According to a new report from Variety, the heads of the Warner Bros. Pictures, Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy, are considering having Leslie Grace appear as Batgirl in other DC films.
The report claims De Luca and Abdy are ‘looking to mend fences’ with Leslie Grace, who was set to play the title role in bat girl. The film would have marked Grace’s first appearance as Barbara Gordon, but despite its cancellation, she could continue playing the character for DC Films.
Warner Bros. Discovery is in the midst of a radical overhaul of its approach to DC properties, with CEO David Zaslav hoping to assemble a new team to oversee DC projects, taking a similar approach to that overseen by Kevin Feige at Marvel Studios.
Whereas bat girl was deemed unworthy of theatrical release – becoming too expensive to retool for the big screen after it was originally shot as a direct-to-streaming movie – it looks like there could still be a place for Leslie Grace’s caped crusader in Warner’s new DC Universe.
Failing a Batgirl reintroduction, the report also notes that Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy are considering casting Leslie Grace for another role in another Warner Bros. production. Discovery.
