Prey, the prequel to the venerable film series Predator, would have undergone character design changes to better fit the 2022 film’s story and timeline.
Dane DiLiegro, who plays the main antagonist, The Predator, in the prequel, shared this information in an interview. He also provided details on the modification process and how the decision was initially made.

Original predator design
The predator The film series is recognized as a staple of science fiction and horror.
Those who grew up watching the movies since the franchise began with its first film, Predatorin 1987 have a deep fondness for this series.
The film was so loved by audiences that just three years later it was followed by its sequel, Predator 2in 1990. So far there have been four Predatorr films in the franchise (with the exception of the recent prequel, Preyreleased in 2022).
The look of the antagonistic killer alien in the movies, commonly referred to as the Predator, was kept technologically advanced considering that the creature had to meet the requirements of being an alien, which is usually stereotyped by high-end technology qu ‘they own. .

The predator’s head resembled that of an arthropod with long, pipe-like attachments protruding from the back of its head. This creature’s body is larger than that of humans, highly immune to most human weapons, and/or very quick to recover from any external damage. They aren’t as nimble as they should have been as hunters, but they make up for that with advanced technology that makes it easier for them to hunt.
They usually possess a metal helmet that is wrapped around their head and face like a metal helmet and armor as well.
The design change of the alien in Prey (2022)
Since the new Predator The movie is set nearly 300 years before the start of the current franchise, so it’s understandable why the alien’s appearance and technology need to be changed.
A creature with such advanced weaponry as the one in the franchise’s first film likely won’t exist in the early 18th century. So, some necessary changes to the creature’s design were made by the production team to more accurately fit the era of the film.

For example, the weapons used by the creature to hunt humans have been altered to make them more primitive, though still similar, to those used in the first four films. Other than that, as Dane DiLiegro revealed, the character needed to be more nimble now that he couldn’t necessarily wield good weapons like his future generations would, and would engage more in melee combat. .
“Dan initially gave us a couple of keywords: wild animal, savage, primitive. So I knew we were sort of deviating from the standing, humanoid, WWF wrestler, Dan didn’t want this 1987 wrestler style Predator, he wanted something dynamic, he wanted something lean, that was more violent and faster but the beginning of it all is designing and building this character and what Tom and Alec did, they really had their hands full because now they have to design a costume that can withstand the physics of how that character can move. It’s a tricky design because the more you get into that dynamic character of movement, the more the suit has to articulate and there are creases, you have to prevent that from happening. Things that we shot in broad daylight, in broad daylight, it’s very easy for things to be exposed. And the way they put together the combination with the new technologies today, compared to the past, it was a synergy of a lot of creativity and technology. You have seen the end result; it looks very good.”
Whatever the changes were, they hampered the popularity of this prequel as it became the highest rated. Predator movie in franchise history so far!
Prey (2022) is currently streaming on Disney+ since it was released by the Hulu network.
