The San Fernando Valley serves as the setting for the vampire action comedy “Day Shift” on Netflix. The protagonist is Bud Jablonski (Jamie Foxx). He is mainly recognized worldwide as the owner of a swimming pool cleaning company. He’s actually a vampire hunter. Jocelyn, Bud’s ex-wife, reveals to him (Meagan Good) that she intends to accept her mother’s invitation and move to Florida with their daughter Paige. Bud and Jocelyn can’t afford Paige’s tuition or braces. Bud begs Jocelyn to give him a week to acquire the money as he is desperate to stay involved in his daughter’s life. For higher pay, he joins the Vampire Hunters Union, and Seth, a union steward, is paired with him (Dave Franco). Bud is unaware that Audrey, a strong and venerable vampire, wants revenge on him for the death of her daughter.
In “Day Shift”, El Jefe, often known as Boss, is not mentioned. There are only two passing references to them. However, it seems that if there are sequels to “Day Shift”, they could have a big role to play. Here is all the information you need about El Jefe. Spoilers follow.
Who is El Jefe?
Even for vampire hunters, El Jefe is a shady character. Bud is among those who believe that El Jefe does not exist. However, hunters like Snoop Dogg’s Big John Elliott seem to disagree. El Jefe, a legendary 700-year-old vampire, is believed to be at the top of the Los Angeles drug trade, according to Seth. He seems to be waiting for the perfect moment to reappear right now. One of El Jefe’s teeth can buy a mansion in Bel-Air due to their sharpness and value. Later in the film, El Jefe is approached again. Bud and Big John discover Audrey’s arsenal, which contains bullets designed to kill vampires. The two vampire hunters are shocked by this, and Bud wonders aloud if Audrey is El Jefe. Big John disputes this, saying El Jefe is much bigger than that.
While Audrey may not be El Jefe, it’s obvious that she’s kept some weapons that can kill vampires for a good cause. She may have been preparing to go to war with El Jefe, although “Day Shift” doesn’t explicitly talk about it. After all, Audrey aspires to run Los Angeles, as Heather admits. It follows that she and El Jefe will eventually clash. El Jefe, assuming he actually exists, continues to be the leader of the vampires in Los Angeles even after Audrey’s death in “Day Shift”.
Is Big John Elliott El Jefe?
One of the vampires bites Big John during the crucial confrontation between the syndicate members and Audrey and her minions. Later, by detonating his explosive vest and killing countless vampires, he appears to be sacrificing himself. Big John is discovered to be alive at the film’s climax. He exclaims while lighting a cigarette: “All the [expletive] vampires. That’s what I love about LA. The fact that Big John is a vampire himself is pretty obvious. He wouldn’t have lived otherwise.
Now there’s a good chance he’s El Jefe. He presumably helped Bud because he was aware of Audrey’s potential threat to his time. The dual existence of a vampire hunter and a vampire can be difficult, but as “Day Shift” shows, it’s possible even if both personalities are legendary. El Jefe could, however, be someone completely different who would act as the main antagonist in the potential sequel.
