One such character that fans can’t get enough of is Doctor Fate, who will be played by legendary actor Pierce Brosnan in the film.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the director of the film, Jaume Collet-Serra confided in his feelings towards the james bond alum and how he’s the perfect candidate for an extremely powerful and omnipotent character like Doctor Fate.

In DC Comics, the Doctor Fate character, who has had several iterations, is considered the greatest wizard. Making his first appearance in 1940, the superhero who dons a golden helmet of fate, used his magical powers to battle the villains. While many characters have taken up the mantle of Doctor Fate, the first to do so in contemporary times was Kent Nelson. Doctor Fate is also one of the founding members of the Justice Society of America, DC’s first crime-fighting superhero team; a precursor to the Justice League.
The character’s complex origin and immense heroic presence make her a difficult character to embody on the big screen. Regarding his powers and abilities, this is mainly due to the prowess of Nabu the Wise, a cosmic entity and Lord of Order, whose creations are the Helmet of Destiny, the Cloak of Destiny and the Amulet of ‘Anubis – components usually adorned by most characters who have taken on the mantle of Doctor Fate.

Therefore, the character is quite interesting, and to see someone of legendary stature like Pierce Brosnan portraying him in black adam would be fascinating to most longtime DC fans. Many are convinced the actor would do the superhero’s on-screen portrayal justice, with the director himself commenting on how charismatic the Doctor Fate character is.

In the Vanity Fair interview, black adam Director Collet-Serra outlined the reasoning behind casting someone like industry veteran Pierce Brosnan for the role of Doctor Fate. According to him, the character himself is legendary, breathes “raw charisma” and is a “to be very powerful.” Naturally, it makes sense for a legend to represent another legend. Brosnan is known for his monumental stage presence and magnetic subtlety. Therefore, having him cast as Doctor Fate comes as no shock, as a compelling character requires someone like Brosnan who can pull it off without making it too repetitive and tedious.

“Dr. Destiny is a very powerful being, so you need someone like Pierce who can play powerful without it being overdone. He can do it in very subtle ways. I mean, that’s the one of the coolest people in the world – that was James Bond! But as a person he is magnetic, so warm with such gravity.
