Rogue One: A Star Wars Story returns to IMAX theaters for a limited time, with an exclusive preview of Andor.
Since Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012, reception to the new era of star wars was mixed. Although all the films (with the exception of Solo) achieved great success at the box office, the Sequel Trilogy is still subject to constant debate and criticism among fans, and even new series such as Boba Fett’s Book and Obi Wan Kenobi also received a mixed reception. However, the film with the most positive consensus around it is RogueOne, which will also have its own prequel series in Andor premiering on Disney Plus later this year.
In anticipation of the release of AndorDisney will reissue Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in IMAX theaters for a limited time on Friday, August 26. Along with the film’s return to IMAX, a special first look at the new Disney Plus series starring Diego Luna will also be included.
With A thug back in IMAX theaters with a special preview of Andor, it’s clear that Disney is very excited to bring audiences back to that time in the star wars universe. After all, Gareth Edwards’ film remains the general consensus favorite among Disney-era fans. It should also be noted that this re-release of the film in IMAX occurs while no special re-release of any of the films in the Prequel Trilogy has taken place in preparation for Obi Wan Kenobi earlier this year, which would have made so much sense and given fans a chance to rewatch George Lucas’ previously maligned films that have since received a warmer reception following the polarizing Sequel Trilogy.
Diego Luna first appeared as Cassian Andor in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Here is the synopsis of the film:
Former scientist Galen Erso lives on a farm with his wife and young daughter, Jyn. His peaceful existence crumbles when the evil Orson Krennic takes him away from his beloved family. Several years later, Galen becomes the Empire’s chief engineer for the galaxy’s most powerful weapon, the Death Star. Knowing that her father holds the key to her destruction, Jyn teams up with a spy and other resistance fighters to steal the space station plans for the Rebel Alliance.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is available on Digital HD, Blu-Ray and DVD, while Andor will be released on Disney Plus on September 21, 2022.
