Black Adam is almost the villain of Shazam
But did you know that black adam didn’t have a solo movie in the beginning? The character was supposed to be the villain of the Shazam. The 2019 film focused on Shazam, the superhero who got his powers from the gods, making him immortal. Billy Batson, an orphan, is chosen to take over as Shazam. He defeats the Seven Deadly Sins and makes his adopted siblings part of his Shazam Family.
The plot for black adam to Shazam followed a boy called Aman, a resident of the fictional Arab country, Kahndaq. He was cast into slavery at a very young age and his uncle, Adam helped him escape slavery. Just like Billy Batson, Aman was also transported to the Rock of Eternity and gained his superpowers.
Later, in order to save her uncle, Aman shared her powers with Adam. After which Adam killed Aman. According to the original plot, it was black adam who holds the Shazam family hostage when Billy shared his superpowers with them.
Dwayne Johnson suggested a Black Adam movie
However, once Johnson read the draft of the film, he suggested there was so much to black adam origin that cannot be featured in Shazam. He insisted that two origin stories in one movie would not do justice to the two characters. And with that, WB decided to give black adam his own movie. After reading the draft, he said he called to talk about how they should part ways black adam from Shazam.
During an interview with Vanity Fair, Dwayne Johnson explains how two characters who were supposed to be in one movie got their own separate movies. The actor himself had directed the black adam film with the promise of getting into the backstory of this anti-hero. And the actor is never shy about taking credit for all the hard work he put into the film.

Cast and Crew of Black Adam
black adam is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. Other than black adam it is also a first film for the Justice Society of America. The film features Pierce Bronson as Doctor Fate, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone. The film is set to be released on October 21, 2022.
The trailer continues to show how black adam obtains his powers and then encounters the Justice Society of America. It looks like the anti-hero will be working alongside the JSA. But that still leaves an unanswered question, who is the villain in the film? DC has yet to release any details regarding who the villain will be in the film.
The real villain in Black Adam
However, many believe the villain of the film will be Sabbac, played by Marwan Kenzari. Sabbac’s origin dates back to the original Captain Marvel (Shazam) comics in the early 1940s. His powers are also quite similar to Shazam’s. He can harness the powers of hell by calling his name, Sabbac.
As for black adam, he has a long run in the DCEU. The character might have his future plans with Shazam, as a deleted scene from the film shows the Shazam family speaking from an empty throne in the Rock of Eternity.
