The Unrealized Potential of the Bullet Train
Despite starring Brad Pitt, who alone was enough to deliver blockbuster films such as The Second World War, and fight clubHigh-speed train fails to succeed. The failure is all the more surprising given that the film is packed with fast-paced action and funny scenes, most of which were shot on a train.

In an interview with Complex, Brad Pitt expanded on the script’s great potential and noting how funny it was, he said:
“The first thing that was obvious about this script and we read it in the wettest and loneliest part of Covid was that it was so funny and all of these characters had their own thing, so I knew we were going to draw an all-star cast – well, mostly all-star cast”
Bullet Train fails to reach its Box Office destination
Despite starring Brad Pitt, Hiroyuki Sanada and Sandra Bullock, the film suffered the lowest-grossing weekend of the summer of all other films. It scored a measly $13.1 million, a 55% drop from its opening weekend gross of $30 million.

Produced on a budget of $90 million, the film only grossed $54 million domestically. In the theater with blockbusters like Thor: Love and Thunder and Top Gun: Maverickthe competition doesn’t help the film either.
Other blockbusters on the program
Among other films released, Top Gun: Maverick seemed to have done the best, grossing $7.1 million in its 12th weekend, the film made $673 million. The film is only $5 million away from becoming the sixth biggest movie of all time, a position currently held by Avengers: Infinity War.

Jordan Peele Nope also took in a big buck, raking in $62 million in its first week and still going strong. Despite the dominance of streaming sites, some movies are still seeing decent success in theaters.
