The Netflix action-comedy horror film from Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco, Day shift is completely ballistic. The vampire hunt tale has become another mark of success on the streaming platform’s exemplary dashboard. The duo are a perfect match when it comes to their comedic timing and action, plus their onscreen repartee make this JJ Perry debut a summer staple.

Day shift – Synopsis and why you should watch it
The story of Day shift follows San Fernando Valley pool cleanup crew worker Bud Jablonski (Jamie Foxx) who is also a member of the International Union of Vampire Hunters, going through a few final kills just to rack up enough money to give his smart daughter a better life. But things get messy when he’s forced to partner up with Dave Franco’s amateur character, Seth.

The two actors have never appeared in a movie together, but that hardly becomes an obstacle in their path to achieving that perfect tenor of a pendulum-like back-and-forth. The subtle connotation of Jamie Foxx’s combination of a tough Van Helsing badass and a loving blue-collar father is yet another reason why Day shift becomes a game to watch.

Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco talk Day shift After
Jamie Foxx is quite proud of his latest Netflix antics and barely hides it. When presented with newbie JJ Perry’s screenplay, he was told it would be “John Wick with vampires, basically” and if that’s not reason enough to jump on board, then what is? Plus, Foxx is so impressed with Franco “the artistic fruits of labor be celebrated” that he’s incredibly eager to see it recreated on screen.

While talking about the possibility of a Day shift sequel, says Jamie Foxx,
“We have good ideas. It’s not always normal for Netflix to do the second part, but we feel like with this one we already have a great chance to see how everyone responds to it… And it’s fun, you know what I’m saying, so I think we’ll definitely try to make it happen and I think if they do it will be even better.
Dave Franco added to Foxx saying, “We have a good title, we have Night Shift followed by Graveyard Shift. Trilogy, baby!
